You Matter More at Mowery

Our infectious disease specialist specializes in the various infections that can affect the human body that are resistant to routine treatment.

Having an infection can be an upsetting and unsettling experience. We’re here to help you!

What are infectious diseases?

An infection occurs when another organism, such as a virus, bacteria, parasite or fungi, invades your body and causes disease. Some of the ways the disease causing organisms can be spread is from person to person, by insect or animal bites, or contaminated food and water. Infections can result in as little as mild inflammation in one person to an entire epidemic.

Medical treatment for an infection is usually recommended when you have general symptoms that don’t respond to treatment. These symptoms may include fever and chills, feeling fatigued, nausea and vomiting, and body aches and pains. You should see a doctor right away if you are also experiencing difficulty breathing, severe headache accompanied by a high fever, a rash, unexplained swelling, or if you have been bitten by an animal.
